Drivers are staging a protest in front of the building of the Motor Insurers' Bureau of Armenia.

They are protesting against the increase in auto insurance premiums in the country.

The increase in these fees went into force on February 7.

On January 31, February 3, and February 7, drivers had held similar demonstration in the capital Yerevan. Also, they had driven around Republic Square while honking the horns of their vehicles, and the police had apprehended several of the drivers.

Regulations on the increase of these auto insurance premiums have come into force today. According to the respective changes, these fees have increase by 3,000 drams. In addition, if there is an accident, the damage of which exceeds 1 million drams, the Bonus Malus system increases by eight classes. The highest threshold of this system is 300 percent.
