YEREVAN. – It was exclusively a principle for the parliament opposition Heritage party to leave the joint headquarters set to control the parliamentary elections, spokesperson for the Heritage parliament group Stepan Safaryan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

He also reminded that Heritage offered two conditions, including the signature of the leaders of the member parties of the headquarters [the joint headquarter includes currently ruling coalition member Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), parliament opposition ARF Dashnaktsutyun and off-parliament opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC)]. However, the parties did not agree to sign it, and Heritage quitted.

Asked how the party will fight against the violations not being a part of headquarters or even the working group, Safaryan said that the party worked alone back in 2005 and 2008, so it is not difficult to carry out the mission on their own.

Earlier, during the Friday rally ANC leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan said that it is not clear for him why Heritage had left the joint headquarters.

Opposition Heritage Party is a liberal party founded in 2002. The leader is the first Armenian Foreign Minister Raffi Hovannisian.

Heritage and Free Democrats Party are running for the parliament with joint proportional list.

The proportional list of the party includes members of extra-parliamentary opposition Free Democrats Party and civil society representatives.

Heritage has also nominated MP candidates with the majority election system.
