YEREVAN. – In Brussels, Armenia’s President and ruling Republican Party leader Serzh Sargsyan on Thursday attended the European People’s Party (EPP) Summit and addressed the event.

In his remarks, the President reflected on Armenia’s developing ties with the EU, the ongoing talks with respect to expanding cooperation, and the reforms in Armenia, the President’s Press Office informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Sargsyan also spoke about the current situation in connection with the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process, and presented his concerns with regard to Azerbaijan’s recent provocative actions taken at the conflict’s line of contact and at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

He reaffirmed Armenia’s readiness to resolve the conflict peacefully, by way of talks, and in line with the internationally accepted norms. He stressed that there is no alternative to peacefully resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh issue and based upon reasonable compromises within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group.

Also, President Sargsyan extended his thanks to the EPP members for their assistance provided toward including Armenia’s Republican, Orinats Yerkir (Rule of Law), and Heritage parties in the EPP’s large family, and expressed confidence that this will stimulate Armenia’s European integration and greatly contribute to the implementation of cooperation programs.

In addition, Armenia’s President noted that the euro’s failure would be an unpredictable threat for Europe’s future, or integration processes with neighbors, and also for global economy.
