The Anatolian group of the Commission of Wise Men, which the Turkish authorities have set up to resolve the country’s Kurdish issue, paid a visit to the country’s sole Armenian village.

On the second day of their tour to Turkey’s Hatay Province, the Commission of Wise Men members visited the Armenian populated Vakiflikoy (Vakif) village, Radikal daily of Turkey reports.   

The residents of the Armenian village welcomed the aforesaid group with flowers and, subsequently, some guests visited the local Surp Asdvadzadzin (Holy Mother of God) Church and lit candles for world peace.  

Next, Cem Capar, the chairman of the Surp Asdvadzadzin Church Fund, provided the group information about the Armenian village. Much later, the guests personally interacted with the villagers.

To note, the Commission of Wise Men comprises Turkey’s well-known intellectuals, men and women of the arts and letters, musicians and journalists, including Istanbul-Armenian journalist Etyen Mahcupyan.
