Pope Francis has stated that he very much wants for the Armenia-Turkey border to open.
On his way back to the Vatican from his visit to Turkey, the Pope informed that the Armenian-Turkish border is in his heart, Milliyet daily of Turkey reported.
“If only the Armenian-Turkish border could open; this would be such a wonderful thing.
“I know that there are geopolitical issues which impede the opening of the borders. But let’s pray together for the reconciliation of these two peoples,” Pope Francis said.
He also expressed his faith that both countries do have good will.
“We must help facilitate the process, and hope that next year will be a year of paving way with small gestures and of steps for rapprochement,” the Pope stressed.
