YEREVAN. - The EU has always unequivocally supported the exclusively peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict, Armenian Deputy FM Garen Nazarian stated at the Parliament Wednesday.

In the final statement of the Eastern Partnership Summit in Riga, as well as in other documents, the EU has always supported the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs. The EU sees the settlement of the conflict on the basis of the statements of the co-chairing country leaders, made in 2009. The EU itself occasionally made such statements, Nazarian said.   

“We hope that such an approach will be reflected in analogous documents in the future,” Deputy FM said.

The EU’s interest in the settlement of the Karabakh conflict is witnessed by the establishment of the institute of the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus. According to Nazarian, Armenia welcomed that institute from the very beginning.
