Azerbaijan has great future. Turkey wants the Karabakh conflict to be resolved in diplomatic and political ways, Turkish President Abdullah Gul said in an interview with the Azerbaijani APA news agency.

According to him, Armenia should solve the Karabakh issue to have normal relations in the region. “We are concerned over the state of one million refugees. Everybody should put himself in other’s place and help it. These are national issues. Parties should not use these issues for their interests. In this issue Azerbaijan should trust in Ilham Aliyev, Turkey in me and Armenia in Sargsyan. Honorable Medvedev and Obama should give more support to this issue. I hope for the solution of these issues,” APA quotes Gul.

The Turkish leader also noted that neither Azerbaijan and Turkey nor Armenia benefit from the present status quo. “The world is changing and we need to solve the problems. If we freeze the problems, they can arise again,” he said.

Abdullah Gul stressed that the OSCE Minsk Group is making serious efforts to resolve the Karabakh issue. “The Minsk Group is doing serious efforts, but unfortunately it couldn’t achieve concrete results during 18 years. We would like the Minsk Group to approach the solution of the problem, but now people call Minsk Group’s visits to the region “tourist trips”. Therefore we need to take new steps,” the Turkish President told APA.
