Trees in memory of the late Harry Gilmore, the first US Ambassador to Armenia, were planted Wednesday in the memorial park of Parakar village in the Armavir Province of Armenia (PHOTOS).

The US Embassy staff, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ashot Hovakimian, and the village mayor planted these trees.

At the event, US Chargé d’Affaires Clark Price said Armenia-US relations are strong, and Ambassador Gilmore was the person who gave the start of these relations.

Price added that these trees will grow, have deep roots, and embody the warm ties between the two countries.

Ambassador Harry Gilmore had passed away in April at the age of 77.

He served in Armenia from May 1993 to July 1995.
