The US and Turkish Presidents Barack Obama and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had a telephonic conversation.

The US President stated that the advance of the People’s Protection Units (YPG), the armed unit of the Syrian Kurds, is a cause for concern, according to Milliyet daily newspaper of Turkey.

Obama, however, again did not consider the YPG to be a terrorist organization.

Also, the leaders of the two countries shared the view that Russia and the Assad regime in Syria need to stop their military strikes on the country’s moderate opposition, and that an end must be put to all actions which interfere with the fight against the Islamic State.
