The Indian government is ready to recognize the 20-million community of Romas residing in 30 countries as “part of the Indian Diaspora.”

Indian FM Sushma Swaraj told the aforementioned at an international Roma conference in the framework of the cultural festival of gypsies in New Delhi, TASS reports.

“You are the sons of India, who migrated and lived in difficult conditions on foreign lands for many decades. Nevertheless, you retained your Indian identity. The powerful 20-million Roma community lives in more than 30 countries of Eastern Asia, Europe, America and Australia, and all of them are the descendants of our compatriots,” the FM stressed.
