The Kenyan authorities are planning to close all refugee camps in the country, announced Karanja Kibicho, the representative of the Kenyan Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to the Kenyan authorities, the camps have a negative impact on the economy and security of the country. As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted the decision to close the camps is mainly made due to the flow of asylum-seekers from Somalia, reports Deutsche Welle.

Daadab, located at the eastern part of Kenya, is among the camps to be removed. There are 328 thousand people living there. Those people are mostly immigrants from Somalia and Kakuma; in addition there are 190 thousand refugees from the Southern Sudan. Kenya has been hosting refugees for the past 25 years from a number of neighboring countries that faced protracted civil wars. According to Gazeta, human rights groups have condemned the Kenyan authorities.
