The lawyers of the Mexican drug czar El Chapo have filed a lawsuit against the Ministry of Foreign Affairs appealing the decision to extradite El Chapo to the US, reports Reuters. 

According to El Universal, the judge temporarily -- for 48 hours -- stopped the procedure until the Ministry of Foreign Affairs provides the rationale for the decision. Earlier it was reported that the Mexican Foreign Ministry has approved the extradition of El Chapo to the US. The ministry explained that they were given guarantees that after the sequent escape from the Mexican prison death penalty as a punishment will not be applied against him.
