The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict cannot be considered frozen any more, Fiona Hill, expert on Russia and Eurasia at Brookings institute, said in an interview with the Armenian VOA service.

There are still sniping incidents on the contact line between Azerbaijani and NKR armed forces and it is very dangerous, she said. According to her, Azerbaijan is actively getting ready for a new war. Prolongation of Russia’s military presence in Armenia may be a deterrent factor but simultaneously the Russian leader visits Baku and arms another conflicting party as well. It increases possibility of war, the expert stressed.

Fiona Hill considers that the U.S. must attach more importance to the Karabakh problem, as a new war can be fatal for the region and from the viewpoint of global security.
