YEREVAN. – When registering a political party in Armenia, the requirements for the number of its founders and members have reduced by two times.

The aforesaid is noted in the new draft Law on Political Parties, which on Monday was submitted to the National Assembly.

The new bill is based on the constitutional reform in the country.

Accordingly, when founding a political party in Armenia from now on, it shall have 200 founders at the beginning, and their number shall reach 2,000 within the next six months.

In addition, it is proposed to enable the founding of a political party with a fewer number of people.

A party shall assemble at least 100 founders at the founding congress while 1,000 members during registration; that is, six months after the congress.
