STEPANAKERT. – Since the very first day of the hostilities which Azerbaijan unleashed against the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR/Artsakh) in April, the institution of the Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) of the NKR is committed to presenting to the international human rights community facts about the atrocities and gross violations of international law by Azerbaijani armed forces.

On April 21, first Human Rights Defender of Artsakh, Yuri Hayrapetyan, released a preliminary public report on Azerbaijani atrocities.

Second Human Rights Defender of NKR, Ruben Melikyan, was commissioned to conduct a fact-finding mission to develop a final report.

Accordingly, it was found out that the Azerbaijani armed forces had control over 31 persons, or their bodies, including 3 civilians, in April.

Around 90 of these persons, or bodies, were subjected to coordinated and organized war crimes.

The new public report of the Artsakh ombudsman will be released on Friday.
