The Nobel Peace Prize awarding ceremony took place in Oslo this year. The price was handed over to the Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos, who, according to the Nobel committee members, took decisive and courageous steps to end the ongoing civil war in Colombian, reports RIA Novosti.

This year, the award was handed by the Vice President of Nobel Committee, Berit Reiss-Andersen. Usually, it is undertaken by the president, but this time he was unable to attend the event, due to illness.

While introducing this year's winner, the Vice-President of the Commission drew attention to the fact that the achievement of peace in Colombia is prescribed not only to the president but also to many other people.
