The journalist kidnapped in Baghdad has been released unharmed after a week, RIA Novosti reports, citing Reuters.

In late December, an unidentified armed group kidnapped the journalist from her house in Baghdad. The unknown persons introduced themselves to the law enforcement authorities and then broke into the house of Afrah Shawqi al-Qaisi.

According to the head of the Iraqi Journalistic Freedoms Observatory, Ziyad al-Ajili, the kidnappers have also returned the car, telephone, laptop and gold jewelry of the journalist.

Afrah Shawqi al-Qaisi, 43, works in pan-Arab newspaper Asharq al-Awsat and also cooperates with a number of news portals.
