The centrist candidate Emmanuel Macron takes the second place in the polls two months before the first round of presidential elections in France, diminishing the gap between Marine Le Pen. According to the recent polls, the former Minister of Economy is behind the National Front leader by 2%. Supporters of Macron hope, that he will win Le Pen in the first round of elections. The right-wing candidate Francois Fillon seems to lose his chances to move to the second round.

These data suggest possible changes during the election campaign. Until recently, the sociologists were confident, that Marine Le Pen would lead in the first round, receiving 24-25 percent of the vote, whereas Fillon and Macron had equal possible chances. Their scores ranged around 20%. As reported earlier, Fillon was involved in a political scandal in late January, after which his popularity began to decline.
