G7 countries have called to punish those committing crimes for the name of the Islamic State, the G7 leaders said in a communiqué adopted on Saturday.

“Those who have perpetrated crimes in the name of ISIS/ISIL/Da’esh, including the use of chemical weapons, must be held to account. We welcome progress in countering ISIS/ISIL/Da’esh in Libya. We call upon all countries of the region to play a constructive role by contributing to efforts to achieve inclusive political solutions, reconciliation, and peace, which are the only way to eradicate ISIS/ISIL/Da’esh, other terrorist groups and violent extremism in the long-term in Iraq, Syria, Yemen, and beyond,” the document reads.

They also reiterated their deepest concerns regarding the use of chemical weapons in Syria and reaffirmed strong condemnation of the use of chemical weapons anywhere, at any time, by anyone, under any circumstances.
