A group of developers from Gyumri, the second largest city of Armenia, has created an algorithm for controlling residential houses and buildings.

Co-founder and director of the Armenian Green Technologies Center (AGTC), Khachik Sahakian, told Armenian News – NEWS.am that the developers have already completed the algorithm for the system and created its prototype.

The remote control systems are only one of the numerous projects implemented by the center.  But the most important thing for them is the renewable energy demo projects in Gyumri and Shirak province.

“Of course, we could sell our software to a producer of such systems but we want to produce our electronics on our own or at least assemble it. Let more values be created here in Armenia,” he stated.

The electronics is almost not produced in the country, thus there being yet certain uncertainly about its self value. But it is precisely stated that the algorithm is much cheaper than its Chinese analogue.

The center has established a foundation in order to fund the project. “Bank loans are beyond our capacity but we invite commercial enterprises to equity investment,” Sahakyan stated.

The project was submitted to the Government for consideration, following which its support was approved. “Now we are waiting for some actions by them. They might make investments in our fund,” Sahakyan added.

The Armenian Green Technologies Center was established with the support of international donors—United Nations Development Programme  (UNDP) and Global Environment Facility (GEF), World Bank, as well as EU, Austrian Development Agency and Austrian charity organization Hilfswerk Osterreich.
