The health condition of blogger Alexander Lapshin, who is arrested in Azerbaijan, is in the center of attention, like that of all arrestees. If someone’s health deteriorates, attention is certainly paid to this.

Head of the Human Rights and Public Relations of Azerbaijani Justice Ministry, Faig Gurbanov, stated on Wednesday, APA reports.

According to him, the applications are thoroughly considered: “The confinement conditions and health condition of each arrestee kept in penitentiary institutions are in the center of [our] attention. At the same time, the General Department of Medicine of the Justice Ministry treats attentively the condition of arrestees. There is a practice of attracting specialist doctors both from the General Department of Medicine and other clinics not included in it. Thus, I don’t see a reason to worry about.”

In December 2016, Israeli Russian blogger Alexander Lapshin was detained in the Belarusian capital city of Minsk. The reason was his being on the international wanted persons’ list, due to a search which Azerbaijan had declared. Baku accuses him of visiting Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) without its consent.

And on February 7 of the current year, Belarus extradited the blogger to the Azerbaijani capital city of Baku, where he was taken into custody.
