US President Donald Trump promised his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron to think about the country’s participation in the Paris Agreement, Macron said in an interview with Le Journal du Dimanche.

“Trump listened to me. He grasped the thread of my thoughts, including the link between the climate and terrorism. He said he will try to find a decision in the coming months. We discussed in detail some options in case of which he can re-join the Paris Agreement,” Macron said, Lenta reports.

On June 1, Donald Trump stated that the US is withdrawing from the Paris Agreement, since the fulfillment of obligations laid down therein may harm the country. The agreement signed in 2015 allocates $100 billion to developing countries for solving climate issues.
