A magnitude-5.3 earthquake occurred Wednesday night in Azerbaijan.

The tremor was registered at 11:48pm local time, 20 km east-southeast of Barda town, according to the United States Geological Survey.

And the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) of Armenia informed that the MES “Survey for Seismic Protection” Agency on Wednesday recorded a magnitude-5.3 earthquake in Azerbaijan, at 11:48pm local time, 68 km south of Mingachevir town.

The hypocenter of the quake was 10km beneath the surface.

This seismic activity measured magnitude 7 at the epicenter, which was 79 km from the state border of Armenia.

The earthquake was felt virtually all over Armenia and the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic/NKR), where it measured magnitude 2-3 and 3-4, respectively.
