Federal judge in San Francisco decided to keep the protection rules for children of illegal immigrants (Dreamers), temporarily blocking the decision of the U.S. President Donald Trump on the DACA program, the Washington Post reports.

The DREAM Act, which provides for a procedure for the gradual legalization of illegal children in the United States, was first introduced to the Senate in 2001, but the initiative was never developed.

On the eve, the ex-US President Barack Obama stated that in 2012 he was forced to sign a presidential decree allowing deferment of deportation and issuing permits for work to children of illegal immigrants (Dreamers), as the congress did nothing. He condemned the Trump administration's decision to cancel the program, calling it “cruel”, RIA Novosti reports.

Previously, Trump canceled the so-called DACA program, which delayed the possibility of deportation for more than 750,000 illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children.

There will be no immediate deportation of illegal immigrants who were previously granted temporary permits, but the authorities will no longer issue new permits. Trump wants the Congress to pass the relevant law within six months with new standards instead of the previous decree adopted by Barack Obama in 2012.
