Armenia and US have always had business ties, but these ties have been chaotic and unsystematic, the Mayor of Glendale, California, Zareh Sinanyan told reporters.

The Armenian-American business forum, held on Friday in Yerevan, can help raise the interaction between Armenian and US companies to an entirely new level and establish new, stronger ties between the two countries, he noted.

According to him, today there is a fully functioning high-tech sector in Armenia, which opens up many opportunities for effective cooperation with American companies.

Together with Zareh Sinanyan, California State Senator Anthony Portantino and two representatives of the California State Assembly arrived in the Armenian-American business forum.

They will spend several days in Armenia, during which they plan to get acquainted with local companies working in the field of high technologies, as well as with the education system in this sphere, including the Armat engineering laboratories.

Senator Anthony Portantino is going to visit other Armenian cities, including Gyumri till September 17, and then he will head to Artsakh to find out how California and Artsakh can cooperate in the field of agriculture.

The main goal of the forum, organized due to the efforts of Zareh Sinanyan and the Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UITE), is both the creation of Armenian-US business ties and attraction of new investments.

Within the forum, Armenian start-ups and established companies presented their projects, technological potential and opportunities for expansion to American colleagues.
