Belarus should not be reproached for selling weapons to Azerbaijan, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said during a press conference—in capital city Minsk—with Russian media, BelTA reported.

He explained that he had invited Armenians, Azerbaijanis, and Russians for a live test of the multiple-launch rocket system Polonez, and they had had an opportunity to see it is indeed a high-precision weapon.

“The Azerbaijanis asked me to sell it to them,” continued the Belarusian president. “And we have to repay the money we’d borrowed for the project. Back then I said I would sell it to Azerbaijan. And I offered the same system to the Armenians. They turned down the offer by saying that they have the Russian MLRS Iskander, they demonstrated it during a [military] parade. Upon request of Azerbaijan we manufactured MLRS Polonez in time for the parade. My trying to deliver the weapon in time for the parade may be my fault in this situation. But I had offered it to Armenians, too, they had said they didn’t want it.”

At the same time Alexander Lukashenko concluded that in spite of everything, he treats well all the countries, including Armenia and Armenians.
