The new criminal case against blogger Mehman Huseynov was terminated, says the statement by the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan.

The report said that in connection with the appeal of Huseynov and human rights activists to the President of Azerbaijan, the head of state recommended that the Prosecutor General ensure the objectivity of the investigation. In accordance with the recommendation of the President, the Prosecutor General gave the appropriate instructions to the investigation, contact.az reported quoting the statement.

“Given Huseynov’s young age, not bringing him to disciplinary responsibility during the period of serving the sentence, his joining the path of correction, having an elderly father, and committing a less serious crime that does not pose a danger to society, the investigation stopped the criminal case,” the Prosecutor General's Office said.

It should be noted that the response of the European organizations, not the young age of Huseynov, most likely urged Azerbaijan to stop persecution.
