A small town in Turkey's Kurdish-majority southeast, Hasankeyf will soon be flooded by an artificial lake, part of the Ilisu hydroelectric dam project, BBC 

The authorities say that the dam will provide the country with electricity and water for irrigation.

Critics are concerned that the project will destroy the ancient monuments of culture, including the caves of the Neolithic period, and radically change the local ecosystem.
