YEREVAN. – Armenia agrees with the priorities of Slovakia, which is chairing at the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan on Wednesday noted about the aforesaid at his joint press conference with Miroslav Lajčák, the visiting OSCE Chairman-in-Office and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia.

Mnatsakanyan noted that Armenia agrees with Slovakia’s approach, according to which people’s rights and will must be taken into account during any conflict settlement.

As per the Armenian FM, the OSCE expanse shall not have an inaccessible place for the international community, and this precept applies to Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh), too.

Also, the minister confirmed Armenia’s commitment to international law, and stressed the importance of exercising the principle of the right of peoples to self-determination.

“Artsakh’s security and status, as well as its involvement in the negotiations have been and remain a priority to Armenia,” Mnatsakanyan noted. In this context, he recalled that the people of Artsakh themselves have to decide their destiny in their homeland.

Furthermore, the Armenian FM underscored the need for creating a climate of trust and reducing risks.

“The holding of large-scale, undeclared military exercises by Azerbaijan these very days, contrary to the international obligations it itself has assumed, doesn’t contribute to creating the said climate of trust,” Zohrab Mnatsakanyan highlighted.
