There will be no job cuts in the first phase of the changes to the structure of the government. This is what Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan told journalists on 18 March.

When asked if the statements on 10,000 job cuts was exaggerated or not, the Deputy Prime Minister said he believed so.

Due to the changes to the structure of the government, it is envisaged to cut the number of ministries from 17 to 12. In addition, according to Armenia’s Minister of Territorial Administration and Development Suren Papikyan, regional councils will lay off up to 30% of their employees.
