Thousands of people participated in Sunday’s funeral in Istanbul, Turkey, for to the late Archbishop Mesrob Mutafyan, the 84th Armenian Patriarch of Constantinople.

Numerous Turkish politicians, officials, and intellectuals also were in attendance to the respective church service which was presided over by Archbishop Nourhan Manougian, the Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem.

Mutafyan was bedridden for numerous years and unable to perform his duties as the Armenian Patriarch of Constantinople.

An unknown person was neutralized on Saturday at about 1.30 a.m. on northeastern section of Armenia-Azerbaijan border.

The Armenian border guards warned the Azerbaijani citizen, but he was neutralized since he did not obey the commands.

The person received medical assistance and was transported to hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound. According to the documents found, he is the resident of Azerbaijani Ghazakh region. His name is Elvin Ibragimov, born in 1986.

An Armenian national was detained on suspicion of the murder of an employee of the Ukrainian presidential staff.

The body of Olexandr Bukhtatyi, the employee of the administration, was found near the church in Kyiv.

The Armenian embassy in Ukraine issued a statement expressing readiness to assist the murder investigation.

A 62-year-old Armenia man has been charged with the murder of his 88-year-old mother.

It has been found out that on March 15 at around 11:30am, a Tavush Province resident—who was born in 1957—argued with his mother at home, and over the absence of vodka in a bottle. Subsequently, the man hit his 88-year-old mother in the head with an axe. As a result, the elderly woman died on the same day, at Ijevan town hospital.

The court granted the investigator’s petition for remanding him in custody.
