My impression of the statements being made here today is that we are adopting this law for the Prosperous Armenia Party. This is what deputy of the Bright Armenia faction Mane Tandilyan declared before the vote for the bill prescribing an AMD 22,000 customs duty for imported cement at the National Assembly on April 19.

She noted that the current National Assembly shouldn’t be giving such formulations. “Yes, there is a clash of interests. The reality is that there is a need to protect local producers. This is an approach that has not been thoroughly considered. With this bill, the parliament will show an attitude that will have a serious impact on the economy. We need to think about what we have to do to protect local producers and ensure competition in our country,” Tandilyan said.

Nevertheless, the bill was put up for a vote and was adopted, and only deputies of the My Step faction voted in favor.
