President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin thanked President of China Xi Jinping for the two pandas donated to Moscow Zoo and referred to it as a gesture of trust and friendship, reports RIA Novosti.

The panda is China’s symbol and has a special place in Beijing’s diplomacy. Sending pandas to other countries has become a tradition, and those pandas are often referred to as “diplomatic pandas”.
