There has to be a fight against corruption in Armenia’s provinces as well. This is what Minister of Justice of Armenia Rustam Badasyan said during a discussion on the Anti-Corruption Strategy today.

According to the minister, this Strategy will be different from the previous ones in that it will contain a specific financial component for assessment of actions, monitoring and standards of assessment. Moreover, over time, the Strategy will be enhanced, revised and supplemented.

Talking about the future anti-corruption institutional body, the minister stated that if we’re talking about the creation of a preventive body that will receive and consider the applications regarding corruption crimes, the body will need operative information. The minister also listed the several issues that will emerge after the creation of the Anti-Corruption Committee and the Commission for the Prevention of Corruption, noting the issue of investigative bodies.

“There are questions about how employees will be appointed, their experience, value systems and verification. There are also questions regarding the preparation of specialists. This is necessary in order to ensure the people’s confidence,” Badasyan said.

The minister underscored the fact that the ultimate goal of the Strategy is to explain to people the importance of the fight against corruption and assured that all the efforts are aimed at helping people see the results as soon as possible.
