The Office of Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan had been involved with opening the paths to Amulsar gold mine ever since I was appointed to office, and since it didn’t work out, they started lobbying to have me repeal the verification act adopted by the State Inspectorate of Nature Protection and Subsurface, and those who did this were Avinyan and Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister, Mr. Aghajanyan and their deputies and assistants. This is what former head of the State Inspectorate of Nature Protection and Subsurface Artur Grigoryan wrote on his Facebook page, stating that we are dealing with a monstrous lie and that the expert examination conducted by Lebanon was absolutely fictitious.

He wrote the following:

“I knew about the adopted decision on Amulsar gold mine eight months ago when I was the head of the nature protection inspectorate.  During this period, I would present facts to people and explain to them that the only interpretation of the illogical actions of the incumbent authorities is that the authorities are maintaining the corrupt system with all the shady mechanisms. Why? It is because the incumbent authorities, in their essence, are the same as the former authorities in terms of their working style and sense of responsibility. If not, why should the new authorities take responsibility for what the former authorities did? In regard to the Amulsar gold mine, the authorities don’t have an argument, to the extent that they compare the fight against operation of the Amulsar gold mine with the fight against the operation of another mine.

Until now, I had never considered it correct to provide details about the government’s working style, but due to the barricade that has been created and the lies that are being told these days, there is no point in being considerate, and it is necessary to let the government know that it has to draw the line.

During a meeting with the administration of Lydian, even the representatives of Lydian directly told me that Armenian government officials had told them that I was going to go and open the paths to Amulsar gold mine."
