YEREVAN. – I suggest that the judges of the Constitutional Court (CC) get acquainted once again with the draft on early retirement. Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan said this in a conversation with journalists today, referring to the observation that the CC members are not very enthusiastic about the bill.

The bill proposes early retirement for the CC members, but keeping their salaries and then their pensions, too.

Asked whether it is possible for the authorities to pursue constitutional reforms to resolve the crisis in the Constitutional Court, Avinyan said: “Constitutional amendments may be on our agenda. But I do not think that constitutional reforms should be linked only to a solution to this local problem. These reforms must undergo complex, inclusive and participatory discussions so that we find out where we have problems and what solutions are offered.”
