YEREVAN. – The car importers protesters in front of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) of Armenia decided to remove their cars out of the street and open the road.

Tigran Hovhannisyan, the president of the Union of Car Importers, said that they had agreed to meet with SRC vice chairman Rafik Mashadyan today at 7pm.

He noted that their demand is for debts to be pardoned. "Our past must be forgotten," he said.

The car importers also complained that a law had been passed that they were not aware of. "If two cars were imported in the name of one person, a law was enacted in June last year requiring them to confiscate money from the second car, 20 percent, in that!" a car importer said. “I made [solely] $100 from it. Where can I get, pay 200,000 drams? And yesterday, there was a letter that it had become 224,000. This is a tax terror! The law was passed in secret, nobody was aware of it."

The car importers are also complain that the newly opened vehicle customs clearance office in Gyumri is not working effectively, and their cars are being damaged due to the poor work of the company that unloads these vehicles.

The car importers are going to discuss these issues with Mashadyan.
