The justification for the opening of the Embassy of the Netherlands in Armenia has been published on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands. Armenian Ambassador to the Netherlands Tigran Balayan has made a respective post on his Facebook page.

Accordingly, it is stated in the justification that Armenia is located between Russia, Turkey and Iran, and therefore is of strategic importance; following the “velvet revolution” of April 2018, the new government of Armenia is modernizing the country and fighting corruption, and the Netherlands can assist this process; at present, Armenia is the only country in the region where the Netherlands does not have an embassy, and therefore the House of Representatives of the Netherlands wants to open an embassy in Yerevan as well.
