YEREVAN. – The National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia has revealed a case of taking a large amount of bribe by an official.

In particular, facts were obtained that in 2009, the official administering over Yerevan took a $ 75,000 bribe in installments, including through some other city hall officials, from the founder of an apartment building company in the city to take actions in his favor, the NSS informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. And in order to give a final solution to the problems, he also demanded the allocation of a 200 m² apartment in the building under construction, and for the needs of the Yerevan Municipality.

The NSS has launched a criminal case into this incident, and an investigation is underway.

To note, since March 2009, the Mayor of Yerevan was Gagik Beglaryan, who had replaced Yervand Zakharyan in this capacity.
