Human Rights Defender of Armenia Arman Tatoyan has responded to the invasion of the editorial office of Zhoghovurd newspaper on his Facebook page.

“Early this morning, Editor-in-Chief of Zhoghovurd daily newspaper Knar Manukyan told me that anonymous people had invaded the newspaper’s editorial office and thrown everything on the floor.

I immediately sent a rapid reaction group to the editorial office. Law-enforcement authorities need to take immediate measures to reveal the incident and conduct an investigation to see whether the incident is linked to the professional activities of journalists. This has to be one of the key questions of the investigation.

I will sign and send relevant letters to the Police and Prosecutor General’s Office based on the results of the visit and the examination.

I have always stated that the work of a journalist has to be guaranteed, and the issues related to the unimpeded work of the mass media are in my focus. An effective and exhaustive investigation is one of the major guarantees for a solution to this issue,” he wrote.
