YEREVAN. – A discussion on Armenia’s commitments in the framework of planned actions to mitigate adverse effects of the Convention and climate change through legislative and policy harmonization as Eastern Partnership countries and EU climate program beneficiaries is held on December 20, in Yerevan, within the framework of the EU-UNDP "EU for Climate" regional program.

The event is attended by representatives of embassies, international organizations, government agencies, Yerevan city hall, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) representation in Armenia, NGOs, the private sector, and financial organizations.

Armenian Minister of Economy Tigran Khachatryan noted, in particular, in his speech that the energy sector has more influence on the climate in the country.

According to Dmitry Mariyasin, Resident Representative of the UNDP in Armenia, the latter is a champion in promoting the agenda on the fight against climate change.

And Ekaterina Dorodnova, Head of the Political, Press and Information Section of the EU Delegation to Armenia, emphasized that the discussion at this high level shows what key role Armenia plays in addressing climate change issues.
