In regard to the Artsakh issue, Armenia is making progress in terms of the army, the borders, military equipment and armaments. This is what deputy of the My Step faction of the National Assembly of Armenia, freedom fighter Sasun Mikayelyan told journalists.

“Of course, this is not enough. We always have to aspire to replenish the army with new military equipment because we always have to be ready for war. Our key objective is to be united because history has shown that we have scored victory when we have been united as one,” he said.

He also touched upon the well-known statement by the Prime Minister of Armenia who has stated that Artsakh is Armenia, period. “What Nikol Pashinyan said was politically reasonable since Azerbaijan has never said that it is entering the stage of negotiations. Azerbaijan claims that both Artsakh and Armenia are Azerbaijani lands. We need to read in-between the lines of Nikol Pashinyan’s statement in order to understand what is going on. He conveyed a message to the President of Azerbaijan that Azerbajian can’t defeat Armenia with weapons or war,” Mikayelyan said.

Mikayelyan says the Prime Minister’s statement that the solution to the Artsakh issue has to be acceptable for the peoples of Armenia, Artsakh and Azerbaijan is also politically reasonable. “Pashinyan is also calling on the people of Azerbaijan. Nobody was expecting shift of power in Armenia, and this is what Aliyev is afraid of. Pashinyan is calling on the peoples of Armenia, Artsakh and Azerbaijan to reach an agreement, and then, if they enter a stage of negotiations, the peoples of all three countries will give consent.”
