YEREVAN. – We have all condemned the calls for violence and the like. Arman Antonyan, a member of the majority My Step faction of the Yerevan Council of Elders, said this in a conversation with reporters today, referring to the Facebook post of their fellow faction member Henrik Hartenyan.

Asked whether he thinks Hartenyan should leave the city council, Antonyan responded: "We will decide today and disseminate the statement. We definitely will ask [him] questions, he has his own interpretation, reasoning; I have high hopes that he is justified. Well, every person has his justification. I myself strongly condemn.”

The My Step faction member added that any justification, whatever it may be, would not be acceptable.

"There should be no calls for violence in our country,” Antonyan concluded, “whichever side it may be from."

As reported earlier, Henrik Hartenyan, a member of the majority My Step faction at the Yerevan Council of Elders, posted a picture of Constitutional Court of Armenia president Hrayr Tovmasyan's daughter on his Facebook page and wrote: "This is the FB of H. Tovmasyan's daughter; let me see you, people."

This became a subject of criticism on social media. The aforesaid member of the Council of Elders later deleted his Facebook page.

The majority My Step faction of the Yerevan Council of Elders has convened an urgent session today. The meeting is focusing on the aforesaid incident.
