Hero of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Vitali Balasanyan and former Artsakh Minister State and leader of the Free Homeland Party, Arayik Harutyunyan, stand out amid other presidential candidates in Artsakh. Political scientist Eduard Saribekyan told this to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

"Based on the course of the election campaign, the results of the polls and the assessment of the analysts, it can be concluded that the main battle is fought is between them," the analyst added.

According to him, the other candidates secure a general backdrop and attempt to convey some messages to their voters.

"Such a situation is specific to all states where democratic processes, including elections, are taking place," Saribekyan said.

The political scientist added that if there is no force majeure, this “picture” will not change much.

Presidential and parliamentary elections will be held in Artsakh on March 31.

Aside from Balasanyan and Harutyunyan, Ruslan Israyelyan (Independence Generation party), Artsakh Foreign Minister Masis Mayilian, Sergey Amiryan, leader of Conservative Party of Artsakh Davit Babayan, Davit Ishkhanyan (Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Party), Artsakh parliament speaker Ashot Ghoulyan, Kristina Balayan, Hayk Khanumyan (National Renaissance party), Vahan Badasyan (United Armenia party), Bella Lalayan, Melsik Poghosyan, and Ashot Dadayan are also running for president.
