Armenian MFA spokeswoman Anna Naghdalyan made a statement in connection with the Armenia citizens stuck on Upper Lars checkpoint in neighboring Georgia.

According to her, 140 citizens of Armenia are there. The Consul General of Armenia in Rostov-on-Don Vardan Asoyan arrived at the checkpoint and coordinates the provision of citizens with food and essentials. 

Some citizens preferred the option of returning to Armenia by air. Talks are ongoing with Georgian colleagues to resolve the issue, Naghdalyan added.

“We urge Armenia citizens to soberly assess the situation, trust only official information and information provided by the diplomatic missions of Armenia,” she said.
