Representatives of the healthcare system of Armenia constantly tell the government and the Commandant’s Office to declare a total lockdown. This is what Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated during a briefing held after the session of the Commandant’s Office for the state of emergency today.

“The problem is that we have been in a period of restrictions and have seen that this leads to very serious and almost devastating consequences for the society and economy. In essence, the government created opportunities for social and economic support costing AMD 100,000,000,000 in the previous period of lockdown, but we also need to understand that the government’s resources are limited. If the government declares another lockdown, it might take the government years to get the economy back on track. This is truly a crucial moment,” he said.
