The issue of a national air carrier can be solved in two years. This is what Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia Suren Papikyan declared during a discussion on the report on performance of the 2019 State Budget held as part of the joint session of parliamentary standing committees today, stating that the year 2019 was unprecedented in Armenia’s aviation sector and was a rather successful year for the emergence of new players.

“Armenia succeeded in engaging several European budget airlines and ensuring access to tickets for citizens,” Papikyan said and assured that the government will also deal with the issue of creating a national air carrier.

As for the problems in Armenia’s aviation sector as a result of which Armenia was blacklisted by the European Commission, the minister said it is necessary to understand the problems and seek paths to solve them.
