Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh issued a statement in which he denied information in an article by the American publication Politico that Tehran plans to assassinate the US Ambassador to South Africa in retaliation for the murder of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, Tasnim reported.

In a statement, a spokesman for the Iranian foreign ministry said Politico's article is biased and targeted.

He advised American officials to stop resorting to the hackneyed and worn out methods of anti-Iranian propaganda in the international arena.

As a responsible member of the international community, Iran has proven its continued commitment to international diplomatic principles and norms, he said.

According to him, in contrast, it is the US and the White House regime that have ignored basic diplomatic principles and turned into a fraudulent regime in the international arena, especially in recent years, taking numerous measures that go beyond internationally recognized methods and norms - including organizing and executing dozens of conspiracies to assassinations and military and intelligence interventions, rejection of many international agreements, violation of the territorial integrity of states and the cowardly assassination of General Qassem Soleimani, the honorary commander of the fight against terrorism.
