Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan continues to listen to the reports on the activities carried out by public administration bodies in the years 2019 and 2020, as reported the news service of the Government of Armenia.

The performance of inspection bodies was considered for the first time ever, and today the Prime Minister was reported on the activities carried out by the Health and Labor Inspectorate, the Education Inspectorate and the Market Surveillance Inspection Body in 2019 and the first eight months of 2020.

Head of the Inspection Bodies’ Coordination Bureau Artur Asoyan presented the programs that are underway in the inspection sector, stated that six inspection bodies have been set up as a result of optimization of 18 inspectorates within the scope of reforms made in 2018 and noted the introduction of the system of risk-based inspections within all inspection bodies as a major achievement.

Asoyan also reported that, within the scope of anti-epidemiological measures taken to combat the coronavirus this year, there were nearly 81,000 visits for inspection, as a result of which 5,300 economic entities’ operation was suspended after the detection of violations.

Head of the Health and Labor Inspectorate Hakob Avagyan presented the Inspectorate’s activities, stating that the Inspectorate has obtained new equipment and computers, improved working conditions, instituted 1,674 proceedings, launched a hotline and new website, etc.

Pashinyan asked if the activities carried out after institution of proceedings have helped lead to qualitative changes, and Asoyan and Avagyan stated that the Inspectorate works with the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure and continuously inventorizes public restrooms.

Head of the Education Inspectorate Alexander Shagafyan touched upon the Inspectorate’s activities and stated that during inspections in 2019, there was positive dynamics in terms of the results of written tasks given to learners, and there were certain problems in terms of replenishment of positions at preschools, general education institutions and intermediate vocational institutions.

Pashinyan touched upon the quality of teaching at educational institutions and asked about the activities being carried out in this direction. Shagafyan informed that this is carried out by assigning written tasks, making conceptual reforms in the institution of class observations and assessing the educational process.

Head of the Market Surveillance Inspection Body Armen Kotolyan presented the results of control over non-food products, ensuring of uniformity of measurements and items made from precious metals.

Pashinyan was provided with details about the opportunities for laboratory experiments within the Inspection Body, and issues related to the improvement of technical equippedness were considered.
