The solemn opening of the “Caucasus-2020 strategic command-staff military exercises and the raising of the national flags of the participating countries were held at “Kapustin Yar” military training field of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation yesterday.

The unit of the Armed Forces of Armenia also took part in the solemn opening ceremony.

Scenarios for counteracting terrorist acts and implementing joint operations will be enacted during the military exercises taking place from September 21 to 26.

The “Caucasus-2020” strategic command-staff military exercise has gathered nearly 80,000 servicemen (including combat, rear and technical support, air defense, maritime forces and formations and military units of special troops).

There are up to 250 tanks, combat cars and armored vehicles of up to 40 infantries, up to 200 artillery and multiple rocket launcher systems.
